Privacy Policy
Effective date: 7 May 2025 | Last updated: 7 May 2025
WhatsClaw ("the app", "we", "our") is developed and maintained by Abhishek ("developer"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the app accesses, how it is used, and what rights you have. We take your privacy seriously — no personal data is ever collected, stored on external servers, or sold.
1. Information We Access
WhatsClaw is a local automation tool. All data stays on your device. We access the following solely to provide the app's core functionality:
- Contacts (READ_CONTACTS) — to let you select WhatsApp contacts or groups as recipients for scheduled messages. Contact data is never transmitted off-device.
- Notifications (BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE) — to read incoming WhatsApp notifications so the auto-reply feature can respond when your phone is locked or WhatsApp is in the background. Message content is processed locally and never logged to any server.
- Accessibility Service — to automate on-screen interactions within WhatsApp (clicking Send, navigating to contacts). This is the only mechanism available on Android for UI automation without a rooted device.
- Overlay (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) — to display the contact-selection floating window over other apps.
- Exact Alarms — to fire scheduled messages at the exact time you set.
- Wake Lock / Disable Keyguard — to wake the screen and dismiss the lock screen so a scheduled send can proceed at the configured time.
- Internet (INTERNET) — used exclusively to communicate with Firebase (license verification and admin panel). No WhatsApp messages are routed through the internet.
2. Data Collection & Storage
- All schedules, templates, auto-reply rules, and history logs are stored only in a local encrypted database on your device (Room + EncryptedSharedPreferences).
- When you sign in with Google, your basic profile information (name, email, UID) is stored in Firebase Firestore solely to manage your app license. This data is never shared with third parties.
- We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or crash-reporting services.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information.
3. Google Sign-In
WhatsClaw uses Google Sign-In (via Firebase Authentication) to verify your license. The only data stored in Firebase is: your Google UID, display name, and email address. You can request deletion of this data at any time by contacting us (see Section 7).
4. Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policy:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication and license management
- WhatsApp is operated by WhatsApp Inc. / Meta. WhatsClaw is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp Inc.
5. Children's Privacy
WhatsClaw is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
